Review: Spa Sonic Skin Care System

I don't know where I've been but I finally got my hands on a skin care system.

There's several others on the market such as Clarisonic® and Olay® ProX but those can be a bit pricey unless you catch a sale. Fortunately, for this one that I purchased on Walgreens.com during Cyber Monday, it was on sale for $29.99 (retails for about $85). Then with my employee discount, brought it down to $25.49 so I decided to snag it. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived today (Thursday).

Now, I have sensitive skin so modifying my skincare routine can be a bit uneasy, but after many reviews and watching YouTube videos, I figure I can definitely try it out - what do I have to lose? I will do a trial run of 2 weeks and then provide an update on how my skin reacts.

Onto the specs of the Spa Sonic

Spa Sonic Skin Care System Face and Body Polisher is a waterproof device which is ideal for use in the shower, bath and sink and it "deep cleanses the entire face and body and tones the skin". It operates with 4 attachments (all included): A small brush for the face, a large brush for the body, pumice for rough areas, and a facial sponge for microdermabrasion and reduction of fine lines.
Comes in a variety of colors: white, pink, yellow, blue, purple and orange.

Four removable rotating brush heads:
Small facial brush: cleanses your face by getting deep into pores
Large body brush: cleanses entire body deeper than loofah & body sponges
Facial buffer: aids in moisturizer absorption & microdermabrasion to reduce fine lines and dark spots
Pumice stone: can smooth out rough areas such as elbows, knees and heels

Includes 7 pieces: 1 Body polishing unit , 2 Small facial brushes , 1 Large body brush, 1 Facial buffer, 1 Pumice stone and 1 Battery four pack (I placed the batteries inside already)

I'm definitely excited to test it out, beginning tonight. As mentioned, I will provide an update review about 2 weeks from now, on this post.

UPDATE

As promised, I'm returning a full two weeks later to provide the review.

PROS
I love the capabilities of the different brush heads such as the body and facial brush. It just does all the handy work for you, I found the best way to use it is just move your hand in a circular motion that way the brush head is rotating in a comfortable manner. It's easy to wash, just use a bit of soap in your hand and just move the brush head in back & forth motion in your palm for lather then rinse of with warm water. I rinse before use and wash after use. After I use it in the shower, I just put it face down on a towel so the excess water can drain out, in the meantime I'm usually doing my makeup and hair, and after then it's dry so I just put it back in its casing to preserve it for next use.

CONS
As expected, when introducing your skin to a new product, you may get a reaction. Mines was definitely a breakout, however very minimal and nothing that made me want to stop using it. It was just annoying, ol' sensitive skin, lol. After that bridge was crossed, it was okay. Other than that, I don't see any real issues with this product. I would recommend it to others. The only thing I would say is not to use it everyday, well at least I don't. I space it out for every other day, so I only use it on Monday - Wednesday - Friday.

Hope this review helps!

Second Year of Pharmacy School.

So I just finished my first week of P2 year! It still feels weird calling myself a P2 because I was so used to being called a P1. Nonetheless, I'm grateful! A few of my classmates and friends, didn't matriculate through the first year so they will be held back and complete the year over, and graduate a year later than before.

I have so much to look forward to this year, not only being 6 semesters away from being a pharmacist, but just more campus involvements, conference trips, exams, and much more! I'm intern status now, so I can do a lot more patient counseling and whatnot at health fairs. Literally, just got comfortable doing blood glucose checks to patients (whoop!), I figured I had to get over my phobia of blood.

What amazes me is how much students at my school look up to me. I love when people come up to me in school, or at work and they're like "Sally, you dress so well", "I love the positive attitude you carry, and how professional you are", "You are such a big help" Things like that, really keep you going in life.

My past trip to San Marcos, Texas: 2014 TPA conference

My life is hectic, juggling school, on the executive board of 3 pharmaceutical organizations, plus a needy job and boyfriend - I literally need my planner and iCal to think, sometimes! I remind myself to pray for strength daily.

I know I have a bad habit of not updating my blog, but I just bought myself a MacBook, so hopefully that with ignite some motivation to write. :)

Poshmark.

Hello lovelies,

So I'm on Poshmark! Poshmark is basically a platform you can sell your clothes or shop the closets of others who have similar styles as you. I have TOO MANY SHOES for my own good so I'm doing a closet clean up. I also have some nice pieces in my closet on there so check it out! You MUST download the app to shop, if you have an iPhone. I'm sure it's on Androids too.

Discontinued?!

Don't you hate it when you find a good product and when you run dry, you rush to the store to stock up again just to NOT see it on the shelf?! I swear that is the most depressing feeling in the world! I don't know if I'm over exaggerating, but for a person with sensitive skin, there's only a select few of products I can try.

First, I couldn't find the St. Ives Green Tea body wash that worked wonders on my chest and back acne. I found that on a whim and now cannot find that anymore. . Now, it's this Aveeno (Positively Radiant) facial wash that was my holy grail. Twice, I didn't see it on the shelves of Walmart or Walgreen's. I'm just hoping they were out of stock because I will be devastated if they were discontinued. Third times the charm...

When I first tried this product, it came with the cleanser and moisturizer, I think it was a promotional set but I tried it on a whim because my previous facial wash (Olay Fresh Effects) was not achieving its purpose anymore, and my skin started to counteract with it. I want to stick to a specific brand/product every time, and not switch around when the product finishes, unless I have an allergic reaction. I have combination skin whereas my T zone gets oily/shiny and dry skin around the outer part of my face. What are some facial products do you use? Suggest some that I should try!

Hope your week started off well!

First Year Complete.

Officially a P2! (Second year pharmacy student)

This academic year has been a trying one, getting used to a whole system and building a routine, seeing what works for you but I have definitely learned a lot, and cannot wait to mentor the incoming class.

I must say I'm very proud of myself, not to boast, but many of my classmates from the fall semester did not see the spring semester, or they failed courses which they must retake in the summer. I NEVER want to take summer courses because that prohibits you from enjoying your summer where you could work or perhaps do some traveling, since your first two summer are free. In the summer of your P3 year is when you begin your rotations so if you fail a course, you automatically delay your expected graduation year.

Being a pharmacy student is not solely about academics, though it is an very important part of the role. But essentially, you are being trained to be a professional, which means you must be well-rounded but there is nothing awkward than trying to communicate with a health professional that cannot understand or relate to you.

If you were to ask others about me, they would tell you I have a heart of service, love helping others and donating my free time to volunteer. I also love being involved, or a sense of belonging, so I am truly grateful for the positions I hold in organizations at school: Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc. Delta Theta Chapter: Co-Chaplain. African Pharmacy Student Association: President-Elect. American Pharmacist Association: Membership Vice President. I encourage everyone to get involved and active in school organizations, just as long as it doesn't affect your academics, but I believe it allows you to learn how to manage your time as well as work with others.

I was also blessed with the opportunity to be a Pharmacist Intern at Walgreen's Pharmacy. What's special about this particular location that I am working at, is that besides it being fairly new, but its innovative and developing practice is going to be the future of other Walgreen's.

Overall, I'm happy in this stage of life because I know it can only get better from here!

InstaCollage + Update

To start off, I'm now 23! My birthday was approximately one week from today (February 1st). AQUARIUS! I basically spent the whole day with my honey, since he had special planning in mind for that day. I really enjoyed myself. I mean amazing! I wore this gorgeous blue color dress with a draping neckline, SEXY!

I had exams this past week...yeah didn't do as well as I had hoped; talk about a whirlwind. It's getting REAL (hard) in pharmacy school but with prayer and faith, I'll see success at the end. Right now, I'm just focused on staying on top of my studies and being more active in my student organizations.

So as of lately, we've been getting these cold and "snow" storms, which rarely happens in Houston. Yeah, it's confirming that the ozone layer theory is true, or the whole is coming to an end. Let's hope the latter isn't true, because I have some patients to counsel and help with medicinal treatment!

I've been itching to go thrifting, it's crazy! And I still have yet to do OOTD posts; don't kill me! I just need a good place and background to take it in. The lighting in my room of my apartment sucks so I'd really have to do it early in the morning with natural sunlight, and most times I'm rushing out the door, trying to make it to my 8am class while beating medical center traffic. One day..

Hope you all brought in the New Year as you like. I brought mines in church, like always. So refreshing. I've decided I'm going to make up this new tradition, when I stumbled across an idea. I'm going to write down 10 things I want to accomplish by years' end, seal it in an envelope then store it away. I won't look at it until New Years Eve of next year, that way it'll show me if I accomplish anything I said I was going to accomplished over the past year.
I think it'll be quite interesting, actually.

In approximately 1 month (February 1st), I'll be 23! :-)
